One of the country’s best preserved medieval castles. Completed in 1399, its scars bear testament to over 600 years of fascinating history including involvement in the Pilgrimage of Grace, Mary Queen of Scot’s imprisonment and a Civil War siege. With one third of the rooms fully intact, visitors will get a taste of what life was really like during the Castle’s heyday through provoking sights, sounds & smells.

The Wensleydale Railway allows visitors the opportunity to sit back, relax and soak in the delights of our local surrounds. Departing at select time’s through-out the year from Redmire Station, just 5 miles from Aysgarth and with free parking to boot, a journey on the Wensleydale Railway is a wonderful experience for all the family.You might even be lucky and get to be pulled by one of their steam trains.

Offering its visitors a fun filled day out with a genuine difference, The Forbidden Corner is a must see filled with unique labyrinths, tunnels, chambers and galleries that present a barrage of tricky challenges, including the occasional spray of water.
