Five hidden gems to discover in Yorkshire

This Yorkshire Day we’re celebrating some of the lesser-known hidden gems that the great county has to offer. From England’s biggest single-drop waterfall to picturesque hamlets and sculpture parks, if you’re interested in exploring attractions away from the beaten path, these destinations offer something a little different to discover.

Five hidden gems in Yorkshire

Hardraw Force

Hidden from the beaten track, behind The Green Dragon Inn, Hardraw Force is England’s biggest single-drop waterfall. With a drop of 100 feet, this gem can be found just 20 minutes away from the iconic Aysgarth Falls.

Hardraw Force is also just 20 minutes from our park, Aysgarth Lodge Holidays!

Staithes to Runswick Bay – a scenic coastal walk

For those who love a good hike alongside breathtaking views, the Staithes to Runswick Bay walk along the Cleveland Way is a must. The three-mile trail takes you through picturesque coastal scenery, with plenty to explore en route alongside ample food options.

Did you know Angrove Country Park is also located on the Cleveland Way?

Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park

A rare gem in North Yorkshire, the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park is an award-winning 45-acre garden that boasts over 85 contemporary sculptures and more than 20,000 plants. Don’t forget to visit the garden tea room whilst keeping the children entertained in the playground.

Beck Hole

Found in the heart of the North York Moors, Beck Hole is accessible only via a small lane, allowing you to leave the hustle and bustle of tourists behind. Whilst there, visit the historic Birch Hall Inn (one of Britain’s smallest pubs), spot the charming listed buildings dotted around the hamlet, and embrace the peaceful ambience.

The Lion Inn

A truly unique pub, The Lion Inn can be found at the highest point of the North York Moors on Blakey Ridge. Enjoy stunning views of Rosedale and Farndale from an elevation of 1,325 feet, before settling by one of its ancient fireplaces and enjoying a selection of quality ales and hearty Yorkshire dishes in this historic inn.
