For Steven and Sarah, the Lake District had always been a favourite place to visit. They’d bought a motorhome just before lockdown so they could travel with their two dogs, and they also owned a touring caravan that they regularly brought to the area.

Over time though, towing, setting up and packing away the caravan became less appealing.

“We decided we wanted life to be a little bit easier.”

Knowing they wanted to keep spending time in the Lakes, they started looking for a more permanent base.

“We really love the Lake District, so we thought, why not look for something that’s more permanent?”

Finding the right lodge

“We put a deposit down before we came up so nobody else could take it. Then we visited the following week and knew we’d made the right decision.”

“Kianna took lots of videos for us and talked us through the process. I felt like I knew her before I actually met her.”

“I’d message Kianna on WhatsApp if I had a question and she’d always come back to me. Everything was explained clearly, from the running costs to the site fees, so we knew exactly what to expect.”

Going the extra mile

One of Steven and Sarah’s dogs has a phobia of laminate flooring, so before they moved into their lodge they needed carpets fitted throughout to make sure every member of the family felt comfortable.

“Nothing was too much trouble. They understood why it was important to us and helped us every step of the way.”

For Steven and Sarah, it was another example of the friendly, personal service they’d experienced from day one.

A home from home

Now settled into lodge ownership, they couldn’t be happier with their decision.

“It’s so nice and chilled. It’s a real home from home.”

Looking out towards Blencathra is one of their favourite parts of every visit.

“The views are fantastic overlooking Blencathra. They just make us relax.”

Being less than two hours from home also means they can make the most of their lodge throughout the year.

“We come as often as we can because it’s under two hours away, which is perfect.”

The perfect base for adventure

Whether they’re heading into Pooley Bridge, spending the day at Windermere or venturing further north into Scotland, Steven and Sarah love having so much to explore right on their doorstep.

Most weekends are spent discovering new walking routes with their dogs before returning to the comfort of their lodge.

“We take the dogs out for long walks, explore the area, then come back and just chill in the lodge or go out for a drink. It’s exactly what we wanted.”
