Visiting Stokesley, North Yorkshire
Stokesley is a quaint market town just 5 minutes drive from Angrove Country Park, or a 40 minute walk through the farmers fields alongside the river Leven.
Built in the 1850’s, Stokesley is a historic market town with many impressive Georgian & Victorian buildings dotted along the high street. There are a lovely collection of independent shops, great butchers and traditional greengrocers.
The river Leven runs parallel to the high street and is a perfect spot for picnics, feeding the ducks and relaxing.
Tourist Attractions
One of the towns main attractions is its weekly market every Friday which has been held since 1223.
The monthly farmers market, held on the first Friday of every month, is a huge draw to the town from miles around selling a fabulous range of food, drink and crafts.
As popular as the farmers market is, it’s not a patch on the annual Stokesley Agricultural Show which is held once a year on the 3rd Saturday of September and attracts over 10,000 to the town. The show hosts an enormous range of fabulous events, animal shows, craft and food competitions, independent traders to name but a few.
Alongside the show is the annual traditional town fair which fills the high street with rides, lights, music and entertainment.
