Ullswater Heights is home to one of the largest populations of great crested newt in Cumbria. We have constructed a ‘newt hotel’ and four ponds for this protected species and other amphibians to live safely.
Badgers frequently pay us a visit, snuffling for earthworms in the surrounding fields.
We are also lucky enough to have a resident barn owl and a peregrine falcon, so keep an eye out for these beautiful birds swooping overhead.
